“Specializing in Best Friends for over fifty years”

When I’m feeling blue, I head to the Maui Humane Society and imagine how many of the animals I can take home. It’s a place for the soul. Compassionate, loving, friendly, giving. Open arms and hearts and minds.

As well as the warm and fuzzy chromosome, there are real tasks at hand and our Maui Humane Society takes pride. The veterinarians are the best around. The directors and program developers and the CEO are dedicated beyond-BEYOND. Their animal control officers are highly trained professionals. The MHS services include adoptions and reunions, counseling and pet services, education, veterinary care, and of course, shelter. You can buy the best products and supplies for your animals at MHS. And you can be a member in one of several ways: Join the “Ohana Club”. Foster-parenting with the “Wee-Care” pet-fostering program. Volunteering. Partnerships through the “Animal Aloha” for businesses program. You can even turn in your used printer cartridges and old cellular phones -- MHS recycles them to get cash for the critters. Better yet, recycle at the Animal Place recycling station and say “Aina and the Animals” and that gives money to the MHS as well.

To learn more about how you can participate, call the Maui Humane Society any day of the week and ask for a brochure on all of these programs.

Throughout the year, The Maui Humane Society is actively pursuing community events and fundraisers. Here’s a calendar of events for you to keep your eye on. I would personally not want to miss the Annual Big Ta-DO, which last year was the “Fur Ball” held at the Marriot in Wailea and was done to the top! Here are this year’s dates:
December 6 and 15, 2007
SANTA PAWS

March 15, 2008
THE WIZARD OF PAWS
“There’s no place like A home”

August 23, 2008
